When it comes to fun family holidays, there is nowhere in the world that can beat the thrills and spills of Orlando. Countless theme parks, fantastic nearby beaches, amazing shopping, and food options like nowhere else on earth – what more could you want?
The biggest decision you will have to make is what you’re going to do with your time in this fun-filled centre, and if you’re heading to the theme parks, which most people do, then you have to plan your time and ticket options accordingly, in order to get the most out of your break.
In terms of theme parks, some are better than others. Here are five of the best.
Magic Kingdom, Disney World
Oh come on, this is probably the number one dreamed about theme park in the world, let alone Orlando, and whether you’re young or old, you will love every last second of this magical land. Sleeping Beauty’s castle dominates the skyline, with Main Street USA a colourful and musical walkway towards it. Parades and rides will fill your day, with fireworks and shows to add to the proceedings. Put simply, Magic Kingdom is the number one park in Orlando.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Who doesn’t love a bit of magic? Fans of Harry Potter will love this cleverly designed theme park, with rides, attractions, shops, and a restaurant where you can even buy butterbeer! Part of Islands of Adventure, you can go inside Diagon Alley Universal Studios, where fans of the film will be in their element. This is probably one of the better value for money parks too, as entrance to Islands of Adventure will also get you free entrance to the Wizarding World. Hogwarts is calling!
The original Shamu may no longer live here, but his younger relatives more than make up for it. Dolphins, sea lions, killer whales, rays – everything remotely sea-orientated makes an appearance here, with rides in there for the extras. Manta is a fantastic ride, a swooping, floorless rollercoaster that will test even the bravest rider.
Hollywood Studios, Disney World
In my opinion, Tower of Terror makes this one of the best parks in the area alone! Lights, camera, action will fill your senses, with parades and shows on top of rides for both adrenaline junkies and those who prefer something a little more sedate. You don’t realise the scale of this particular park, as it sprawls out, so remember your comfortable shoes! If you are a rollercoaster addict, then Aerosmith’s Rock n Roller Coaster will be one of your favourites.
Sitting right next door to Islands of Adventure is the iconic Universal Studios, with the world-famous spinning world outside. Inside you will get a sneak peak of how a movie is made, ride fantastic attractions, watch 3D and even 4D shows, and feel like a movie producer in the making. Grab a two or three day ticket with Islands of Adventure included, and save money.
What a holiday!
